Winder Electrician

Join the team at South Crofty Mine

Cornish Metals plc is recruiting a Winder Electrician to join the team at the South Crofty Mine in Cornwall as we progress the redevelopment of one of the world’s highest-grade tin mines. This shift-based role carries out preventative maintenance, repairs and statutory inspections on the mine’s winder and shaft systems, along with other electrical equipment across surface and underground operations. It’s a good time to join. Two new winders are being installed: a semi-automatic winder for personnel and materials, and a fully automatic winder for rock hoisting. You’ll also do HV work up to 11 kV and help mentor our electrical apprentices.

We are looking for a qualified electrician with at least five years’ experience on underground shaft and winding systems. You’ll need a strong background in high- and low-voltage switchgear, protection systems and control wiring, and Authorised Person or Senior Authorised Person status, either current or previous. Good fault-finding skills, a firm commitment to health and safety and the ability to work in demanding underground conditions are essential.
