Strongbow Exploration Inc. (SBW: TSXV) is pleased to announce that exploration drilling is now underway at its Midway gold project in Lancaster County, South Carolina. The 3,000 m drilling program is intended to test a number of priority geochemical targets within the project area, which is located within the historic Haile-Brewer gold trend, adjacent to Romarco Minerals' (R: TSX) Haile gold mine property.
The Company is also pleased to report the further expansion of its regional exploration efforts within the Carolina slate belt. In particular, the Company has reached agreements with several private land owners allowing access to approximately 130,000 acres of land within the southeastern United States. These access agreements will allow Strongbow to explore and evaluate large areas of prospective geology within the Carolina slate belt, an area where private ownership of mineral and surface rights represents a significant obstacle to greenfields exploration work and the discovery of new gold deposits. The Company intends to evaluate these properties concurrently with the drilling program at Midway and ongoing exploration at the Company's Parker gold mine property located in Stanly County, North Carolina.
Strongbow's 2011 exploration programs are conducted under the supervision of David Gale, P.Geo. (BC), Vice-President of Exploration for Strongbow and a qualified person under NI 43-101.
