Strongbow Exploration Inc. (SBW: TSXV) has been notified by Xstrata Copper Canada that exploration drilling is underway at the Company's Inza copper-gold property, British Columbia. The 6,104 ha property is located within the Quesnel Trough region, approximately 54 km north-northwest of the community of Fort St. James and 40 km southwest of the Mount Milligan copper-gold mine. Thompson Creek Metals Company is currently in the construction phase of the Mount Milligan mine which contains reserves of 2.1 billion pounds copper and 6.02 million ounces gold within 531.8 million tonnes grading 0.20% Cu and 0.011 oz/t Au (Thompson Creek Metals website, October 2009).
The drilling program is intended to test for Mount Milligan-style mineralization within a 1,100 by 1,200 metre, copper-gold porphyry target defined by Strongbow's earlier exploration. The program is being operated and funded by Xstrata as part of an option agreement whereby Xstrata may earn up to a 75% interest in the property (please see Strongbow news release #11-08 dated April 27, 2010 for details).
Strongbow's 2011 exploration programs are conducted under the supervision of David Gale, P.Geo. (BC), Vice-President of Exploration for Strongbow and a qualified person under NI 43-101.
